PyroSim 2018.1.0329

Faster FDS modeling with professional results

Version: 2018.1.0329

March 29, 2018

What's New

This release includes improvements for the Results viewer, support for the WIND namelist, and improvements to usability and reliability.

This version of PyroSim is designed for FDS version 6.6.0. It uses version 1.8.0_162 of the Java VM.

Changes since PyroSim 2017.2.1115:

  • Added support for the WIND namelist.
  • Added hardware shaders to render scene geometry for improved performance and quality.
  • The default smoke detector model has been changed from ionizing to photoelectric.
  • Improved how FDS mesh outlines are written to the PyroSim Results geometry file by no longer showing outlines for non-corner edges.
  • Species are now shown in the tree view.
  • For Layered surface Ignite At temperature, improved clarity and added validation.
  • PyroSim now includes four generic spray models based on reasonable defaults.
  • Results preview now uses a start time of zero even if the simulation start time has been entered as a negative number – preventing unnecessary FDS simulation time.
  • Changed the default value of REAC namelist parameter CRITICAL_FLAME_TEMPERATURE from 1327 C to 1427 C.
  • PyroSim now uses negative volume flow specification rather than the REVERSE flag to specify flow direction in HVAC ducts.
  • Fixed a bug in the FDS Run Dialog that caused the hours field to get stuck at 596.
  • Fixed a bug in the names of imported CAD objects that could cause some non-English characters to be displayed incorrectly.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented objects from showing changes to appearance settings.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause a crash when running FDS.
  • Fixed a bug importing FDS files with a gravity ramp that prevented the GVEC multiplier from being applied to ramp values.

Changes to Results:

  • Objects in the Pyrosim geometry file now appear and disappear based on FDS control logic.
  • Added hardware shaders to render scene geometry for improved performance and quality.
  • Improved shading of occupants. Clothes look “cleaner” and occupants brighter.
  • Hardware accelerated occupant display now works on Intel GPUs for improved performance.
  • Hardware accelerated occupant display is now available for newer AMD drivers – previously some updated AMD drivers required software rendering.
  • Improved object outline visibility when using transparency.
  • Boundary quantities are no longer shown over OPEN vents.
  • Mesh outline visibility is now enabled by default.
  • Slice vectors thickness can now be increased to support high resolution screenshots.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause a crash when there was only one isosurface.
  • Fixed bugs that could cause missing display of boundary quantities when using multiple meshes.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause a crash if manually hidden obstructions were activated via control logic.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause errors when opening FDS results if the SMV file contains certain non-ASCII characters.
  • Fixed a bug where a boundary quantity for an activated obstruction might show at the wrong time.
