Pathfinder 2018.3.0730

Pedestrian movement clarity without complexity

Version: 2018.3.0730

July 30, 2018

What's New

This release includes wait times on doors, an option for occupants to shrink to move through narrow aisles, and console-based generation of randomized simulations. Changes to Results include creating views and section boxes, unit switching for concentration and temperature, and many other improvements.

This version of Pathfinder uses version 1.8.0_172 of the Java VM.

Changes since Pathfinder 2018.2.0417:

  • Occupant profiles now include an option to use a reduced diameter when moving through narrow geometry (e.g. stadium aisles).
  • Console-based support for Monte Carlo simulation copying, randomization, and running is now available through provided script files.
  • Doors can be set to introduce per-use wait times, both constant and from distribution. This can be used to model doors with varying delays (e.g. access control card with occasional swipe errors.)
  • An additional 3D model is now available: construction worker.
  • On laptops with a discrete GPU, Pathfinder will try to use the discrete GPU rather than the integrated Intel graphics.
  • Added GPU information to the Preferences and About dialogs.
  • Removed the ability to create tours directly in Pathfinder, as this can now be done in the results.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause Pathfinder to crash when selecting a door after loading a legacy PTH file.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the simulator to crash when using both groups and assisted evacuation.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause occupants to become stuck on stairs that contained near vertical triangles.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the simulator to crash when assisted evacuation agents queued at doors.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur importing FBX, DAE, and OBJ files if the file path contains certain characters.

Changes to Results:

  • Views, tours, and section boxes can now be created directly within Results. This data can also be exchanged between results using an import feature.
  • Automated the creation of screenshots (still images) from various views and playback times.
  • Added support for visualization of cell-centered 2d and 3d slices.
  • Added the ability to change the unit for concentration from mol/mol to ppm and the unit for temperature from °C to °F.
  • Added the ability to show a Calendar date and time in the 3D View in addition to time offset.
  • Occupant paths can now be colored by group or by group template.
  • Improved rendering performance for occupant paths.
  • Activating occupant paths can now be cancelled if loading times are slow.
  • Added toolbar button to reset the view to the current selection.
  • Pressing Enter now commits spinner field values.
  • Added the ability to specify a 2d slice through a 3d dataset as an axis-aligned value.
  • On laptops with a discrete GPU, Results will try to use the discrete GPU rather than the integrated Intel graphics.
  • Added GPU information to the Preferences and About dialogs.
  • Fixed a bug where cell-centered boundary results would display incorrectly.
  • Fixed a bug that would cause results data to appear shrunk toward the center of the mesh by a half mesh cell when rendering the following results types: Smoke, fire, volumetric 3d datasets, 2d slices through 3d datasets.
  • Fixed a bug using the compatibility renderer for volumetric 3d datasets that could cause gaps in the rendering.
  • Fixed a crash when displaying FDS objects that use multiple surfaces as outlines.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause Results to use the wrong texture origin.
  • Fixed a bug causing occupant paths to not be clipped by the active section box.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when plotting a 2d slice through a 3d dataset using the compatibility renderer.
  • Fixed a bug where the application might hang when trying to use the FDS results action, “Cache results for smooth playback”.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the slice properties editor to reset the slice value when editing the offset.
  • Fixed a bug where occupant contours sometimes show data when the playback time is outside the occupants’ time range.
  • Fixed a bug causing occupant paths to not refresh along with other results while the Pathfinder simulation is ongoing.
  • Fixed a bug where the wrong occupant paths might be showing if the Pathfinder results is replaced with another result set.
  • Fixed a bug where occupant contours might not be colored correctly when the colorbar is hidden.
