Pathfinder 2012.1

What's New

This release adds a 64-bit version, direct import capability for AutoDesk DWG files, and performance improvements that cut run time in half.

This version of Pathfinder uses version 1.6.0_31 of the Java Runtime Environment.

Major changes since Pathfinder 2011.1.1702:

• Pathfinder now launches and runs about twice as fast as before. This improvement is based on an improved runtime compiler in the Java Virtual Machine.
• Replaced Pathfinder's DXF import library with the Teigha library. This change makes it possible for Pathfinder to import DWG files directly without conversion to DXF. DXF files are still supported.
• Added a 64-bit version of Pathfinder to support larger models with correspondingly higher memory requirements.
• It is now possible to override individual occupant parameters while still pulling other parameters from the occupant's profile.
• Added an Advanced Occupant Parameters dialog that provides a way to control several low-level occupant parameters (e.g. collision response time and reduction factor).
• Improved warnings in the navigation tree to help avoid potential simulation problems (e.g. disconnected stairs and door overlap).
• Imported geometry can now be visually edited in the 3D editor.
• Opacity settings can now be edited for each component and is properly displayed in the 3D results.
• It is now possible to reset elevator timings based on a simple acceleration model.
• Simulations can be run from the command line (without loading the graphical user interface) by using a script in the install folder: testsim.bat
• When running simulations from the command line, a maximum number of parallel threads can be set using the argument "-J-Dnthreads=3" (without quotes, replace "3" with the intended number of threads).
• Elevator levels can now be disabled by right-clicking the elevator level and selecting "Disable." In addition, entire elevators can be disabled by selecting the elevator.
• The relative priority of occupants can now be set. This can be used to create first responders that should be able to move more easily through crowds.
• Occupants can now squeeze (or turn) to move past each other in tight corridors. The amount of size reduction is controlled by the "Reduction Factor" in the advanced tab of the occupant profile.
• Occupant height can now be specified and is shown correctly in the cylinder display of the 3D results.
• Pathfinder now automatically disables display features that are unavailable on the detected graphics hardware.
• Snapping is now disabled by holding ALT instead of SPACE to avoid conflicts with text fields.
• When extracting floors from imported geometry, it is now possible to selectively exclude elements by de-selecting their "Include in Room Extraction" option on the property panel.

Changes in Patch 2012.1.0824

• In the simulation summary file, total occupants and last out times are now printed separately from the node detail table and the summary row was removed from the node detail table.
• If occupants are removed mid-simulation (e.g. an occupant cannot fit through a door), the simulation summary file will now specify how many occupants exited, did not start, and did not finish the simulation.
• Translations have been updated for localized versions.

Changes in Patch 2012.1.1029

This version includes a fix for ATI graphics cards and a fix for certain 3D Results animations.

• The 3D Results now uses the correct animation file parser in locales that use the comma character as the decimal mark. Prior to this fix, a parsing failure occurred that manifested as one of the character models being reduced to 2D during certain animation frames.
• Improved image handling in the 3D results to work with images whose resolution are not powers of two. The previous method caused crashes with some ATI graphics cards.
• Added updated translations for the JA and PL locales.
