How can I create a shaft report?
Ventus supports Shaft Reports differently than Contam-W:
A Shaft Report plots the pressure drop and airflow rate for flow paths around the stairwell as a function of Level/Zone. Ventus is made to quickly find and export these results for your Shaft Report inside a separate program, like excel.
- When creating the model, on the first level, name the flow paths around the shaft something specific, for example Door1_Hall.
- Every time that you copy the zone and flow paths between floors, Ventus will copy the object name and add a count, for example Door1_Hall_1.
- Create and run the model.
- On the right of the screen, click Path Data. This displays all results for the simulation.
- To filter results relevant to a shaft report, in the search box enter the original name, for example Door1_Hall. Ventus will filter the flow path data and only show objects that have this starting string.
- If needed, change the order of data columns by selecting and dragging the headers of the columns to the desired location. The Elevation column indicates what level the flow path corresponds to.
- Select the data and copy it to a spreadsheet to make a graph of the results. Note that whether the pressure difference is reported as positive or negative in Path Data depends on the direction used when defining the flow path in Step 1. The display of the results in the 3D View Window is always drawn showing the direction of pressure difference or flow.

Ventus is designed to efficiently support diverse workflows through the flexibility of sorting and exporting data. We chose to prioritize flexibility instead of chosing to program a rigid shaft report function as done in Contam-W. We hope that this system better meets your needs, and we remain open to feedback.
