How can I close gaps between zones in Ventus?

For more complex models, there may be Ambient space between Zones due to Wall thickness. To close small gaps may be impractical; Ventus performs Flow Path calculations independently of horizontal distances between Walls. It is most important to create Flow Paths, leakage areas, and Zone volumes intentionally.

Ventus has several features that help to examine connections and troubleshoot gaps in your 3D model:

  1. Turn on the Show Flow Path Input Geometry view tool.
  2. Toggle on/off the Show Imported Geometry and the Show Zones view tools.
  3. Inspect the type of each Flow Path:
  • In the 2D/3D Workspace, internal Flow Paths appear as rounded bodies, while external Flow Paths appear as diamond bodies.
  • In the Object tree, internal Flow Paths appear as squiggles with dots, while external Flow Paths appear as squiggles with one arrow and one dot.

If closing gaps is necessary, move the Zone vertex points:

  1. Use 2D Top View. Ventus supports the snap grid, snapping to other Zones, and snapping to imported geometry.
  2. Left-click on a Zone you want to change.
  3. Left-click on the vertex of the Zone that you want to move, then either:
  • Move the vertex with the cursor and select a new location in the 2D/3D Workspace with a left-click, OR
  • Define the vertex position numerically; move the cursor in any direction and press TAB (up to three times) to enter the distance, relative position, or absolute position.
