How can I close gaps between zones in Ventus?
Ventus supports both the snap grid and snapping to 3D geometry. For more complex models, there will often be space between zones due to wall thickness. To actually close gaps may be difficult and impractical; if necessary, it is best to use the drawing tools and move the zone vertex points when in Top view. When gaps exist, the model will compute and report accurately. It is most important to create flow paths and zone volumes intentionally.
Ventus has several features that help to examine the connections and gaps in your 3D model:
- Turn on the Show Flow Path Coverage view.
- Toggle on/off the Show Imported Geometry and the Show Zones views.
- Confirm the type of each Flow Paths: In the view window, internal flow paths appear as rounded bodies, while external flow paths appear as diamond bodies. In the object tree, internal flow paths appear as squiggles with dots, while external flow paths appear as squiggles with one arrow and one dot.
To use the drawing tools and move the zone vertex points:
- Left-click on a zone you want to modify.
- Left-click on the vertex of the zone that you want to move.
- You can move the vertex with the cursor and select a new location in the view window with a left-click, OR
- You can define the vertex position numerically: move the cursor in any direction, press Tab up to three times to obtain the distance, relative position, or absolute position dialogue box.
